Lena B. Marks VanVoorhis

Lena B. Marks VanVoorhis, 81 of Beallsville died Friday October 2, 2009 in the Washington Hospital. She was born May 13, 1928 in Thompson #1 Fayette Co. a daughter of the late Edwin S. and Emma M. Cole Marks. Mrs. VanVoorhis was a 1946 graduate of Brownsville high School and had been a member of the California United Christian Church for most of her life. Mrs, VanVoorhis was a very dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was also an active volunteer not only in church, but with her community being involved with the area senior citizens and working election polls. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards with her family. She is survived by two sons, Robert Raymond and Stanley E. (Buddy) VanVoorhis both of Beallsville, one daughter, Twila J. Settles and husband Rich of Beallsville, two grandsons, Robert L. Copechal Jr. and wife Sheralee of Washington, Grant T. McClelland and wife Renee of Beallsville, three great grandchildren, Taylor J. and Conner Weston McClelland, Isaac Jacob Copechal, six sisters, Grace Cseko of McSherrystown, Pa., Doris Daugherty Swaney of Monongahela, Betty Angelo of Thompson #2, Ruby Baker of Blainesburg, Margaret Sheets of California, Pa., Twila Hall of Uniontown, two brothers, Stanley Marks and wife Lois of Penn Craft, Pa., Larry Marks and wife Kathy of Farmington, Pa., two sister in laws, Lillian Marks of Isabella, Pa., Barbara (Dudie) Riggle of Washington, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her parents is her husband, Isaac Robert VanVoorhis who died September 8, 1982, a step mother, Sarah Hogsett Marks, a brother, Harry E. Marks, a sister, Joyce Smith, and infant twin sisters, Freda Marie and Rita Mae Marks. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9pm Monday in the Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main St. Beallsville where funeral services will be held Tuesday October 5, 2009 at 11:00am with Rev. Jana Quisenberry officiating. Interment will be in Beallsville Cemetery.
